Installation Guide (Internal & External Flash)

1.Choose Flash Mode :

Select target storage environment.

Determine whether you want to flash directly to the receiver's Internal Flash or deploy via MultiBoot / External Storage.

 

2.Method A: Internal Flash Installation :

Web browser flashing via Rescue Loader.

1. Turn OFF the Dreambox using the rear switch.

2. Press and hold the front panel touch sensor while switching power ON until the LED flashes red/red-blue to enter Rescue Mode.

3. Open a web browser on your PC, type the IP address displayed on screen, and select Firmware Upload.

4. Upload the OpenBlackHole 5.6 image archive, click Flash, and reboot once complete.

 

3.Method B: External Flash Installation (MultiBoot) :

Deployment via MultiBoot plugin.

1. Connect to your active main image on the receiver via FTP (FileZilla or WinSCP).

2. Transfer the backup file archive (.tar.gz or .zip) to your multiboot upload directory (/media/usb/openMultiboot-Upload/ or /media/ba/backup/).

3. Open MultiBoot Manager or Barry Allen from the plugins menu.

4. Select Install / Unpack Image, pick the uploaded backup, and boot into OpenBlackHole 5.6 upon extraction.
